DERIVE Patch
for Printing under Windows 95

An incompatibility in Windows 95 prevents some DOS programs, including the DOS version of DERIVE, from being able to send output to a printer. This problem will cause DERIVE to display a "Printer not ready" warning message.

Running the PATCHDRV program patches DERIVE.EXE to avoid this problem. If you are running a version of DERIVE or DERIVE XM between 1.63 to 3.06 inclusive under Windows 95 and are experiencing printing problems:

Please follow the directions below. If unable to access the file, please try again at a later date. If after several tries you are unable to access the file, please contact Chartwell-Yorke and the information will be emailed to you directly.

1. Download the PATCHDRV program from the US website (the file is less than 2000 bytes).

2. Copy PATCHDRV.EXE to the directory containing the file DERIVE.EXE.

3. From that directory at the DOS prompt, issue the command: PATCHDRV

This will automatically update your copy of DERIVE.EXE. Alternatively, the PATCHDRV command can be followed by the full path and file name of the DERIVE.EXE file that you wish to update.
